Inflammation
Inflammation is triggered as a result of chemical mediation and cellular response that occurs as a result of damage and stress to cells or tissues. Fever is caused by an inflammatory response that elevates the temperature of the entire body.
Like other forms of inflammation, fever also enhances the immune defense. Increased body temperature then reduces the growth of pathogens. Inflammation and fever can be harmful if the inflammatory response is high.
