Spicy Food

Spicy Food

Spicy ingredients like pepper and Chili pepper contain capsaicin, a chemical compound that causes a burning sensation in the mucus membrane. Spicy food normally causes a runny nose; the reason is that studies have shown that capsaicin thins out the mucus and stimulates its production. Also, capsaicin has been shown to improve the symptoms of people having chronic cough.

However, do not try spicy food if you have an upset stomach because spicy food can cause nausea and bloat in some people.
