Pyrogens
Pyrogens are the substance that induces fever. They inhibit heat-sensing neurons and stimulate cold sensing neurons by acting on a hypothermic thermoregulatory center. Some bacterial and viral infections can cause pyrogens’ production, which increases the body temperature and causes fever.
