Genital herpes blisters tend to appear in several stages after getting in contact with the herpes simplex virus. As you notice the initial symptoms of genital herpes such as itching and tingling, you might not be able to notice any blisters and sores at this point. Blisters will develop over the course of the several days. The blisters tend to appear red at first and they soon start to fill with fluid that is often yellow in colour. The blisters burst eventually and then heal. The outbreaks of genital herpes can vary in severity. While some people only have one single blister but others might encounter multiple blisters that are painful as well.

In addition, it is not uncommon for the symptoms of genital herpes to stay unnoticeable and be so mild. Blisters or sores might appear where the infection enters the body. You can transmit the infection by touching the sore and then scratching or rubbing another part of your body including the eyes. Genital herpes blisters can also appear on the anus especially if you are having anal sex with a person carrying the herpes simplex virus. You might notice tiny red blisters or bumps around the anus. Anal herpes can also lead to discharge, constipation, and pain.

However, it is quite rare for the blisters to transfer to other body parts but it happens when the blisters are already there during the time of intercourse. The duration of genital herpes symptoms outbreak depends on how rapidly your body can fight against the infection and whether you take any antiviral medication to recover faster or not. The first genital herpes outbreak as a general rule tends to bring the most severe symptoms. In certain cases, it might take up to two to three weeks to recover completely. Frequent outbreaks are generally less severe and subside within a few days.
