Acute Gout
Acute gout occurs when there is accumulation of uric acid crystals which causes sudden intense pain and acute swelling in the joints. The rapid occurrence of gout symptoms including intense pain and acute inflammation is known as the flare-up or gout attack. The symptoms of a gout attack will typically subside within 3 to 10 days. Gout attack can sometimes result due to factors like alcohol consumption, stressful events, cold weather, as well as drugs.
