External hemorrhoids

External hemorrhoids are the ones that occur on the anus, and they are present on the surface of the anus where there is a direct contact between bowels and anus as the bowels come out. The external hemorrhoids are not always apparent, but sometimes they are visible as lumps on the surface of the anus. The doctors say that the condition of external hemorrhoids is usually not a severe medical issue. However, if a patient is experiencing any pain or discomfort, which is interrupting his or her daily life, then they must pay a visit to a doctor. It is also easier to see the external hemorrhoids when there is swelling of the hemorrhoids. The bluish colour is visible due to the dilated veins under the skin surface of the anus.

Most of the times, the symptoms resulting from external hemorrhoids are the same as those of the symptoms resulting from internal hemorrhoids. The external hemorrhoids cause more pain or discomfort in the patients when people do physical activities, or when they try to sit down or have a bowel movement. The increased pain or discomfort is mainly due to the fact that the external hemorrhoids are present on the outside of the rectal area, so any movement can irritate these hemorrhoids and ultimately results in pain. See your doctor or general surgoen if you are experiencing any pain or discomfort due to the external hemorrhoids.
