Hypothyroidism

People having lower amounts of thyroid hormones, i.e. hypothyroidism have higher amounts of LDL cholesterol levels in their bodies. The condition of subclinical hypothyroidism has reduced function of the thyroid gland, which allows lesser secretion of thyroid hormones in the body. The reduced production of thyroid hormone promotes more conversion of fats into LDL cholesterol in the body, thus raising the number of total cholesterol levels in the body. This irregularity of thyroid gland results in cholesterol buildup, which consequently becomes the risk for other health disorders and diseases. The condition of hyperthyroidism, on the other hand, promotes the clearance of excess cholesterol from the body.
