HIV can also transmit via the rectal fluid of an infected individual. Sex involving rectum will result in HIV infection. There are also likely chances of blood in the lining of the rectum that can also carry HIV. So better to stay on the safe side, use preventive measures and don’t go for sex during HIV infection. The risk of rectal transmission has been reported at 1.4% – 1.7% per act during anal sex.
