Pregnancy can also result in HIV infection in the fetus or newly born baby. It has been reported that the chances of HIV infection during childbirth is 25% per act. It means the infected mother transmits HIV to the baby during pregnancy or delivery. Treatment intervention can decrease this chance by 5%.
