Qualitative PCR Test

PCR stands for Polymerase Chain Reaction, use the viral nucleic acid to diagnose the HIV infection. PCR can detect even a small number of virus, very sensitive and specific test. A preferable test to diagnose HIV infection in babies born to infected mothers because PCR doesn’t rely on antibodies and detect the viral nucleic material. PCR is useful for diagnosing infectees with western blot negative or those who cannot develop antibodies against HIV.
