Human papilloma virus can be transmitted via skin contact of an uninfected person with an infected person. The lesions are superficial and, those on hands and feet are exposed so that any shedding of the virus from the lesions can affect any person in close contact. The virus can also be transmitted from an infected mother to the developing fetus during pregnancy.
