Preventive Measures
It is always best to prevent a disease in the first place. Though Human papilloma virus is highly contagious, and is unavoidable to a great extent, some preventive measures can surely keep the virus at bay. Some of these are listed:
- Get HPV vaccine.
- Do not share personal use items like razors, nail filers and clippers, towels, makeup accessories etc.
- Take proper care of open wounds, disinfect them and avoid contact of wound with an infectious source.
- Use condoms.
- Avoid alcohol and tobacco abuse.
- Take good care of personal hygiene.
- Avoid non-medical intervention or home remedies to pull out a wart. Chances are, you may self-inoculate yourself with the virus at any other site, and the warts may come back more than before
- Avoid itching the warts, as the virus may infect the skin around the nails and cuticle.
- Get regular checkups.
