Joint stiffness is the feeling of difficulty in lifting or moving the knee joint or the whole leg that appears to be the apparent loss of range of motion of the knee joint. The stiffness of knee joint often occur along with significant pain or swelling in the knee too. The affected area might also have tenderness, warmth, numbness, redness, or tingling sensation accompanying the stiffness depending on the cause of the stiffness.

The stiffness of muscle and joints might be occurring due to a disease or an injury and arthritis is a condition which commonly represents stiffness. [4] A damage to the knee joint, inflammation, or injury to the surrounding areas of the joint, such as bursae might also cause stiffness. The stiffness of the joint or muscles in the knee cause significant pain that limits the range of motion of the knee joint.
