Massage may relieve knee pain by applying pressure and boosting the blood flow to the affected joint area. Massaging the thigh muscles is proven to have a beneficial impact on the knee.

According to the American Massage Therapy Association, self-massage is highly effective in relieving joint pains and can be done by following ways.

  • Make seated position with your feet flat on the floor and the knees pointing forward. Tap the upper, middle, and lower thigh ten times with both hands by loosely closing the hands into fists.
  • Sit with your feet flat on the floor. Place the wrist of the extended hand on the top of the thigh. Glide it, by applying gentle pressure, as far as the knee. Release the hand and repeat for five times.
  • Press fingers of your hand on the knee. Move them up and down five times.
