Limitations
There are general guidelines that might explain who is a suitable candidate for LASIK basis on vision measurements. Astigmatism measures in diopters. You might be eligible for LASIK if you receive 6 or fewer diopters if the astigmatism is consistent, and if the corneal health allows. You might have farsightedness or nearsightedness that can factor also into your LASIK eligibility. You cannot attain more than -12D if you have nearsightedness or +6D if you have the farsightedness to be appropriate for this process.
The measurements of your eyesight are not the factors that find out whether you are a suitable candidate for LASIK surgery or not. Other factors consist of:
- The content of moisture in your eyes
- Your aims for correction of vision
- The overall health of the eyes, including the thickness of the eye
- Whether you are breastfeeding or pregnant
- Your age (must be 18 or above)
- The health status (those conditions consisting of diabetes or autoimmune disease might not be suitable)
- Stability of eyesight that does not change in the last year significantly
