Thoracentesis
Cancer of the tissues that line the lungs can lead to the accumulation of fluid between the chest and lungs walls. This condition is known as pleural effusion. To reveal the cancerous cells and make a diagnosis, the sample is collected by a thin needle known as thoracentesis.
