Surgery
Surgical operations also diagnose lung cancer. For the surgical procedures, the patient must be hospitalized. The commonly used surgical procedures are:
- Mediastinoscopy:In this procedure, a probe is surgically inserted into the chest cavity to collect cancerous cells or tumors from lymph nodes.
- Thoracotomy:This procedure involves the opening of the chest wall for tumor biopsy.
