Certain lung diseases appear to increase the chances of lung cancer. Pulmonary fibrosis also is known as scarring of the lung, can increase the risk upto seven times even among non-smokers. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), is linked with a 4-6 times increase in lung cancer.
