It is another noninvasive imaging method that uses the natural fluorescence of the body to study the retina. Certain structures in the body light up when exposed to certain wavelengths of light. These fluorophores include retinal pigments, epithelial cells, and lipofuscin. The procedure is usually performed for studying late dry AMD or geographic atrophy.
