Although there is strong evidence that certain vitamins and changes in lifestyle can reduce the risk of vision disease, there is no medical treatment for macular degeneration after its onset; however, if the condition is diagnosed early, there are few steps that can help to slow the progression of the disease.
Anti-angiogenic Drugs
The medications are directly injected into the eye; they help to stop new abnormal blood vessels from leaking, which happens in wet macular degeneration. Some results have shown that people regain their vision that they lost in AMD. The patient may need to get the treatment repeatedly on follow-up visits.
