In the early stages of a pericardial type of mesothelioma, there is an occurrence of irregular heart contractions. The cancer cells adversely affect the sensitive lining that covers the heart muscle and irritates the pericardium lining of the heart, which leads to irregular heart beating. The patient starts experiencing heart palpitations or chest pain.
