Bloody Stools
Blood from the gastrointestinal tract may signify a number of underlying health problems. However, when this bleeding is paired with upper abdominal pain, vomiting, and heartburn, it’s highly suspicious that it’s one of the symptoms of an ulcer. Most people find this blood either when they use the toilet or as their stools look black.
When you find this blood along with nausea and pain in the stomach or abdomen – consult your doctor to conduct a blood test and an upper endoscopy (where they use a camera to look into the stomach itself) to confirm if an ulcer is an underlying cause. Blood in your stool may also be caused by hemorrhoids or may be a symptom of colitis or colon cancer – so it’s a good idea to have your doctor check it out.
