Radiation Therapy

Radiation therapy aims to damage the myeloma cells and stop them from growing by the high energy radiations. Radiation therapy is also known as irradiation, X-ray therapy, and radiotherapy. The part and area of the body exposed to radiation depend on the stage and type of cancer. Radiation therapy and chemotherapy sometimes used in combination to treat multiple myeloma. Healthy cells may be affected by radiation and cause some side effects that include low blood counts, diarrhea, nausea, fatigue, and peeling skin.
