Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy

This type is also not gendered specific and affects both men and women equally. However, men can be affected slightly more than women. In this type symptoms do not appear in the early stage, and the person might not even be aware of the condition until adulthood. The condition progresses slowly, and the symptoms start to appear slowly, including sleeping with slightly open eyes and the inability to squeeze the eyes tightly. Shoulder aches, thin upper arms, and rounded shoulders have also been observed in teenagers or adults. The muscles of the face, shoulders, upper arms and calves mostly get affected. A significant number of people develop weakness in their legs and can require a wheelchair later in their life.
