Myasthenia gravis affects the muscles that control the facial expressions and movements thus making it difficult for the patients to change face expressions. Patients of myasthenia gravis typically have the similar faces with no distinctive recognizable features. The weaker face muscles make it the face still and harder to move it to smile or express any emotion. In addition, the other symptoms of myasthenia gravis including the drooping of eyelids add up to the less visible facial expressions in the patients. The generalized weakness around the mouth and eyes also make it difficult to make vivid facial expressions.
