Blood tests

A series of blood testing is important to perform if the physical examination of a patient indicates myasthenia gravis symptoms. The blood test helps in detecting the antibodies to the acetylcholine receptors. However, the antibodies against acetylcholine receptors are not detectable in young patients with juvenile myasthenia gravis but the positive blood test indicates the presence of myasthenia gravis. Moreover, if the patient has negative blood test then the doctors do further tests for less common antibodies for muscle specific kinase antibodies.
