At the beginning of the infection, the infected area feels to be soft and inflamed. The sores can be moist, while with times, the area of the disease turns dry and scaly.

It resembles a bull eye. This appearance helps in differentiating ringworm from other types of skin rashes like that of eczema because eczema appears similar to that of ringworm. In all kinds of ringworms, either on any part of the body, the red circular patch can be seen. The patches can increase in size and can appear in more areas of the body.
