Vaso- occlusive Crisis
A vaso-occlusive crisis is a pain caused when there is low oxygen flow to the body’s tissues. It is also the type of musculoskeletal pain and the most common sickle cell disease-related complaint in children and adults. When an individual experiences a vaso-occlusive crisis, sickle cells block the blood vessels by decreasing oxygen flow to the surrounding tissues.
