Delayed Growth in children
Delayed growth occurs in people with sickle cell anemia. Children are shorter but can regain their height by adulthood. Moreover, sexual maturation can also be delayed. It happens because sickle cell red blood cells are unable to supply enough oxygen and essential nutrients.
