Acute Chest Syndrome
Acute chest syndrome is a life-threatening condition. However, the exact cause is still unknown. It is also thought that an infection in the lungs damages the lungs, but sickle cell anemia causes air circulating problems.
The symptoms of acute chest syndrome are:
- High temperature
- Breathing difficulties
- Chest pain
- Cough
- More rapid breathing than normal
