Inheritance

Sickle cell anemia, an inherited also known as autosomal recessive manner. It means that this disease develops when the individual receives two copies of the mutated HBB gene. These copies come from the mother and one from the father. An individual with one copy of the mutated gene is said to have sickle cell trait, not sickle cell anemia.

Although they are also carriers of the disease, these individuals generally do not display the symptoms. However, they are capable of passing the disease to their children.
