Dry Mouth
Sore throat or dryness of mouth is another common cause of sleep apnea. When the nose fails to provide proper oxygen to the body, the brain signals the body to breathe through the mouth to reach the optimum level of oxygen required and consumed by the body to maintain all functions. This compensating mechanism of taking oxygen through the mouth when there is a lack of oxygen results in dry or sore throat.
Memory loss- People suffering from sleep apnea experience memory loss. Chronic sleep apnea condition can cause injury to neurons due to sleep deprivation that can lead to a decline in memory and many other associated complications. It becomes difficult for the person to consolidate memories or experiences so they can be accessed later. Studies have also revealed that this disorder can also change the level of neurotransmitters in the brain as a lack of oxygen supply can be damaging to the brain.
