Obesity

Not all but must of the people having excess body fat can develop sleep apnea at some stage in their lives. The deposition of fat in obese people occurs in the upper portion of the airway, which consequently blocks the airway. Some medical conditions, including hypothyroidism and polycystic ovarian syndrome, which have a direct link with obesity, can also cause the obstruction of the airway, thus resulting in sleep apnea. However, not everybody with high body fat does not get sleep apnea disorder because thin people can also develop the condition of sleep apnea.

People having hypertension or high blood pressure are more prone to develop the condition of sleep apnea.
