Smoking

Smoking is tightly coupled with stroke. It does so in several ways; the cigarette smoke forms plaques in the vessel walls, the toxic chemicals: carbon monoxide reduce the oxygen saturation of the blood, and nicotine increases blood pressure. All these collectively weaken blood vessels and increases chances of clot formation, also compromising the nutrition of cells, which puts smokers at twice the risk of stroke than non-smokers.
