Cryptogenic stroke
This heading is reserved for 25% of stroke cases where the underlying cause cannot be determined. Finding the underlying cause is the first step for the proceeding treatment strategies, but in some cases, brain imaging and other diagnostics cannot identify a definite cause. Atrial fibrillation and clotting diseases can be some hidden causes. A proper follow-up and cooperation with the health team can help pinpoint the cause and map ways to prevent it in the future.
