Carotid angioplasty and stenting (CAS)
this is an interventional method that begins with an incision in the groin to insert a guided catheter into the blood vessel. Reaching the plugged vessel in the neck, a balloon attached to the catheter is inflated, which pushes the clot and unplugs the vessel. A stent, which is a tiny metal tube is also inserted at the site of the clot to prevent the collapse of the vessel after the treatment.
