Medicines and Their Reactions
Some medicines like quinine and antibiotics that contain sulfa can cause a reaction to the body. When medicine reacts, it can confuse the body and can cause it to destroy its platelets. A medicine known as heparin is used to prevent blood clotting, but the immune reaction can trigger the medicine to cause thrombocytopenia. Some other medicine like Dilantin, vancomycin, and rifampin used for seizures can also show a reaction to the body and result in this condition.
