Purpura

Purpura, also known as blood spots or skin hemorrhages, appears on the skin as a result of thrombocytopenia. They seem like purple-colored spots and are easily identified on the skin. The purpura is like petechiae, but petechiae are small spots, while purpura is large, typically raised lesions caused by bleeding within the skin. They can appear on the membrane inside the mouth. Purpura indicates serious medical conditions and can be seen when the platelet count of the body drops, which causes excessive bruising and bleeding.
