Early Symptoms Of Thyroid Cancer
Thyroid cancer is difficult to diagnose because it shows no signs and symptoms at the early stages. If cancer occurs in thyroid nodules, more obvious symptoms are visible caused by thyroid nodules, and not by cancer itself. The symptoms of thyroid cancer are the following:
Lump in the neck: Formation of the lump is the most common symptom of thyroid cancer. Patients of thyroid cancer can feel or see the lump in the front of the neck. Not all lumps are big enough to be seen, but patients can feel or notice the lump while swallowing. Most of the time, doctors detect thyroid lumps while performing a thyroid exam.
Inflammation Of The Lymph Nodes
Voice Changes
Voice change is not a very common symptom of thyroid cancer—the thyroid gland located below the voice box that is known as larynx. When thyroid cancer grows in size, it can spread to the voice box, causing hoarseness and roughness in the voice.
Breathing Problems
Tumor can affect the windpipe, also known as trachea, located below the thyroid. Tumors can press the windpipe causing difficulty in breathing.
Difficulty Swallowing
Cancer can spread to the esophagus located below the trachea. Cancer nodules or tumors can interfere with the process of swallowing and cause difficulty in swallowing.
Neck Pain
Patients of the thyroid cancer feel neck pain at the front of the neck. Some patients experience severe neck pain that spreads to the ears and back of the neck. If you experience neck pain, the does not go away after some days immediately consult with your doctor.
Throat Pain
Persistent throat pain is a possible sign of thyroid cancer. Patients can experience throat pain because cancer develops in the thyroid nodules present in the neck. Throat pain can also cause due to some other reasons, but if you experience persistent pain that does not away, you should immediately consult your doctor.
