Epidemiologically, the incidence of tinnitus cannot be specifically co-related to age, race, or gender. Reports show variation in incidence of tinnitus. Prevalence rate proposed by most researches lies between 3-30%. Apart from other factors, there is significant association of tinnitus seen with hearing loss, and cardiovascular disorders. Bilateral tinnitus is also reported to have a hereditary component.
