Smokers are at a higher risk for acquiring tinnitus. Cigarette consists of nicotine, which disrupts the transmission of signals from the brain to the cochlea by damaging the auditory nerve. Smoking also results in frequent ear infections in middle ears and Eustachian tubes. Smoking, not only risks the life of smokers, but others near them too. Passive smoking also results in ear infection such as swelling, blockage, damage in the Eustachian tube.
