Some people may be on the lookout for home remedies, or natural ways to counter tinnitus. Though not as effective as hearing aids or neouromodulation, some home care remedies may help in dealing with this nuisance in a budget-friendly way.

Avoid triggers

Although tinnitus is hard to trace back to a single cause, there are some identifiable causes, which can be properly managed. Triggers may also differ in different people, and all of the precipitating factors in the following list may not be responsible in a single person. A careful analysis can be done by the patient himself as to what sets the bells to ring in the ears, and then exposure to that factor can be consciously limited. Some common triggers to evaluate are:

  • Noise
  • Stress
  • Alcohol
  • Smoking
  • Silence
  • High blood pressure
  • Caffeine
  • Certain drugs e.g. aspirin
