Irritability

Mild tinnitus does not seriously bother the patients and they can carry out everyday activities without much of a change. However, in severe cases, tinnitus can become particularly bothersome and effect the mood of the patients. Irritability is quite an understandable change in tinnitus patients. If the tinnitus is of the fluctuating type, the patients feel irritated on two levels. The experience itself may be annoying and the fear of any imminent recurrence is a further source of apprehension. The patients also feel irritated in particular settings, which can trigger a spell of tinnitus. Other exogenous sounds which match the frequency range of the individual’s tinnitus can also cause mood swings.
