Osteotomy

American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) states that osteotomy may be helpful if you have early-stage knee arthritis that affects your bones on only one side of your joint.

In this procedure, your surgeon will cut and reshape your bone. This will reduce pressure off the affected part and realign the bones.

  • It is only suitable for you in following cases:
  • If you are active, are not overweight, and under the age of 60 years,
  • If pain is just in one side of the knee
  • If you have OA mostly due to standing for a long time or after any activity

This type of surgery is usually helpful to stop or slow down the progress of joint damage.
