This is possible because of increased friction and irritation to the vagina during intercourse. And using spermicidal agents with condoms and diaphragms can double your risk.
Try lubricated and high-quality condoms and diaphragms without spermicide to decrease the risk. You can also use unlubricated love gloves with a non-spermicidal lubricant.
