Cystitis

Cystitis is refereed to inflammation of the urinary bladder. Inflammation is a term used to describe pain, irritation, or swelling of a specific part of your body. In a majority of cases, the common cause of cystitis is urinary tract infection. The source of bacterial infection in this condition is the urethra. The infection-causing bacteria enter through the urethra during sex or wiping after washroom and cause infection of the bladder.

This could also happen due to an imbalance in the natural flora of the bladder. The new flora is harmful and can cause inflammation of the bladder. An infection does not always cause cystitis. For instance, certain hygiene products and medicines can also cause inflammation of the bladder.

Treatment for bladder infection depends on its severity and the underlying cause. Most cases of bladder infection are acute or occur suddenly and may resolve by taking some simple home remedies. While in other cases, such as interstitial cystitis can become chronic and require long term and specific treatment.
