Warning Signs and Symptoms of A Kidney Infection You Should Not Ignore

Symptoms That Develops After A An Infection Has Spread To Your Kidneys

Following symptoms indicate that the infection has spread upward to involve your kidneys.

Cloudy or Smelly Urine

Lower urinary tract infections cause changes in your urine as discussed above, however, if your urine is noticeably cloudy or smells foul, it may indicate that the infection has progressed to your kidneys. Foul smelling is an indication of an active infection. The characteristic of the smell may vary and depends on the type of bacterial infection.

Cloudiness of the urine is due to the presence of pus, a thick, whitish-liquid that form as a result of dead bacteria and the body tissue. In some severe cases, it may be visible to your naked eyes. However, in a majority of cases, your doctor would only be able to see this under a microscope after doing a urine dipstick test. It’s because your urethra is also shedding a little bit of blood due to inflammation. This blood got mixed up with the pus that masks the cloudiness. In a very complicated case, you may find a slight change in the urine color from yellow to half-white.
