HIV/AIDS
HIV is a virus that attacks immune cells called T-cells. Diarrhea, long periods of fever increase the weakness and cause loss of appetite. HIV also increases REE, the number of calories burnt while you are resting. With weight loss, the body’s ability to fight infections also decreases. HIV also changes the working of hormones which includes testosterone. Low testosterone slows down the production of proteins, which further decreases the lean body mass. Having a good diet is so essential for people suffering from HIV.
