Applanation Tonometry
The cataract may cause an increase in the pressure of the fluid in the eye. An applanation tonometry is used to determine the pressure inside the eye, also known as intraocular pressure. This device consists of a flat cone shaped end that makes contact with the cornea and measures the resistance to standard pressure applied.
Disadvantages of applanation tonometry:
- Great accuracy and precision is required to measure the pressure.
