The only way to remove a cataract from the eye is to remove the cataract lens completely. In a cataract surgery the doctor inserts an Intra-ocular lens in the eye that resembles the natural lens. These IOLs are made of transparent silicon, plastic or acrylic. These IOLs are permanently installed in the eye and they don’t need to be changed. There are various options available for lens replacement and their prices also vary.

  • Accommodative focal:

In order to see things clearly at different length the natural lens adjusts its size and curvature. These lenses work better than mono-focal lenses. With the advancement in technology the accommodative lens has been designed to focus objects at different length, but, these lenses can focus a single object at a time.

  • Mono focal:

It is the most standard type of lens. As the name suggests these lenses can focus a single thing at a particular distance. People who are suffering from astigmatism had to wear glasses for better view.

  • Toric focal:

These lenses are used for people who have been suffering from severe astigmatism in addition to cataract. People suffering from astigmatism have oval eyes which cause light dispersion. With the help of Toric lens light is more easily focused on the retina.
